I hear that Hollywood is doing a revamp of the old "Death Wish" movie from the 1970s. The original starred Charles Bronson as an architect whose wife and daughter are brutalized in their apartment by a gang of punks. A young Jeff Goldblum plays the part of one of the punks. Charles Bronson becomes a vigilante killer seeking revenge against them.

Apparently Eli Roth, director of the "Hostel" movies, and also the movies "Aftershock" and "Green Inferno", is to be the director of this new Death Wish movie. He is known for his over-the-top violence in movies so I would expect this new movie to be a bit more graphic than the original.

I'm sick of remakes. Maybe someone should make a movie where the people in process of making a remake are hurt, raped and killed. That is probably an original idea since I can't think of a movie with that for a plot.

James Wan, the guy who did the Saw movies, did a spiritual remake of Death Wish back in the early 2000s -- I can't remember which year. It was called Death Sentence and starred Kevin Bacon with John Goodman in a supporting role. I recommend it!

Unlike the original Death Wish, Death Sentence has a bit more in the way of plot- and character-development. And while I usually dislike movies with messages at the end, Death Sentence's was actually pretty good.

Of course, James Wan did it -- so you know it has its violent parts. :)

I'll be interested to see what they come up with for the new Death Wish.

I looked up Death Sentence.  Based on the synopsis I read, it doesn't seem to include a rape scene.  Too bad actually, since I saw Kelly Preston was in it.

We'll see if the Death Wish remake is worth watching.  I'll probably wait for a review of it here before bothering.

No, there's no rape scene, just a bunch of people getting killed.

If Hollywood is looking to do an accurate remake of Death Wish though, I'm thinking that version will probably have one. They could do a lot more with it than they could back in the 80s with the original.
