I seriously did GG's patented Lurch groan. I read the books. Literary trash. They were so poorly written and the author clearly didn't research bdsm at all. I feel it's important to mention that the guy who plays Grey is insanely hot. I'd be his fuck toy. I'm still not seeing the movie though.

You're right, Nyx!!

I've found better writing here and else where on the Web.....

I really don't care about the actor, just the actresses.....

I might watch it on cable......maybe?

I made a feeble attempt to read the first book.  It was beyond awful and not in the least little bit erotic.  It did make me wonder if I focused a little and maybe dialed back the 'force' only a tad, I might publish and out sell this Grey rubbish?  I'm afraid my current writing would not be accepted in the mainstream.

My significant other read them.  She said she ended up skipping the sex scenes, and she actually likes the erotic.  She just thought they were so boring and unerotic.  She'll usually read anything.  Myself I tried reading the first book skipping to the erotic hoping for it to get never did, and I gave up.

I said long ago in this thread I'd watch the movie when it came on cable.  I've tried a few times, but only last about 20 minutes before I turn it off.  I think I've seen the first hour of the 2 hour movie so far.  I do plan on getting all the way through it eventually.

The girl's rather cute, but the nude scenes so far are tame.  I did get a chuckle when they were negotiating limits with a contract, and she crossed out anal and vaginal fisting as hard limits, and then asked, "What is a butt plug?"

Seriously?  What's a butt plug?  Like it takes a brain surgeon to figure that out?

The context of the comment was intended to shock audiences and they contemplate her fate possibly being anal sex.

You and I react, 'Really?  Not sure what that's for?'  So yeah, it does come off as making the character look stupid.

I finally did make it through this movie tonight, but only because of multitasking while doing it.

I have to say, I resent the movie somewhat.

The implication is that any guy who has these sorts of desires to dominate girls must have had some sexual trauma in his life and is completely screwed up.  I have these desires, and I've had no trauma in my life, and I don't consider myself to be screwed up.  It seems perfectly natural to me to want to dominate girls.  I'm a caveman dragging the girl back to my lair to have my way with her.

The other implication is there must be something wrong with a girl that wants to be dominated, who enjoys and fantasizes about this.  Again, I see nothing weird about that either.  For you girls on this site, don't ever think something is wrong with you for having these fantasies.  You want the alpha male to drag you to his lair and do what he wants.  That's natural and normal too to have these desires.

One positive is the movie makes it clear, the sub is willing.....this is not real rape or real slavery we want......the sub can leave at any time.

The other positive thing I can say about the movie was after about 5 attempts, I finally got through it.  There's no way I could finish reading the awful writing of that first book let alone the 2 that followed.

Yeah . . .I don't have any desire to even try to force myself to watch it . . .I tried the books and they were so bad, I just can't get past them to even give the movie a chance . . .but, I will say that I don't think there is anything wrong with having fantasies or feelings . . .and shame on Hollywood for putting that kind of spin on it . . .
